She had her film debut in the 1998 film Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge!. Antara was born in Mumbai on 1 July 1979, into a kushwaha family. She is a daughter of Jagdish Mali, a famous photographer. She has been married to the editor of GQ magazine Che Kurrien since 12 June 2009. They have a daughter together.
