She portrayed Rachel in the 2017 fantasy adventure film Into the Rainbow. She competed on season 20 of Dancing with the Stars, where she was partnered with choreographer Mark Ballas, and finished in 7th place. Shields has signed up to lead a new Netflix series, an edgy figure skating drama called Spinning Out in 2019.
