She officially joined MSNBC as a legal analyst on March 11, 2014. She was crowned Miss Louisiana Tech 1998, becoming the first African-American woman to win the pageant. She won Miss Louisiana 2000 beauty pageant and advanced to compete in the Miss America 2001 pageant, where she placed second. Jenkins was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA on September 21, 1977. After graduating from C. E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, she attended Louisiana Tech University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science.
